Description
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BAYONETS YOU CAN BUY FOR MONEY. iT HAVE IT ALL, LET ME EXPLAIN:
First of it comes from infantry regiment 17 in Udelevalla – Sweden and on the scabbard it´s marked I17.
It have the lock for bayonet fighting to hold the bayonet on place and with the scabbard on the recruits fought with bayonets and to avoid accidents this is attached,
Sweden had this weapon from 1896 to 1990 – I have been shooting several 1000s of cal 6,5 and the for fighting in close combat the fabric made a very good bayonet. This example have been used for a short while and then t have been resting for over 100 years. The blue finish is like it never have been used .
Even on the bayonet it is stamped I17 and the son the bayonet we find a lot of stamps.. first of all the manufacturer in Eskilstuna – Sweden. It have the typical crown for military items. It have three matching numbers 412 and that we can find on the blade. and on the scabbard etc. 412 – 29b and 68.
It have been grinded and in Sweden we do that in war time. I can think that this was grinded in 1905 when Sweden and Norway was near a war.
When I was young 14 year of age we that was signing in got a mauser with amo. that we had under our bed. 🙂
The total production was high but we exported over 100.000 to Finland during the war and then they are more rare to find in good shape like this.
The blade is: 21 cm
