The police department during Hitler’s Germany was technically a civilian organization but served more as a paramilitary group. It provided the normal duties of a police force but also kept files on groups and individuals who disagreed with the Third reich and investigated descent in the population.
The medal covered here was issued to police officers in recognition for providing 25 years of service in the force. The medal was awarded in a case and came with a document.
