Very large coin from 1716. Charles XII – King of Sweden, had cannons melted down to make more plate money. Rare to find and not so many produced this year.
Today, there are about 15,000 plates produced since 1600-1700 preserved in Sweden and Finland, the corresponding figure for the rest of the world is about 4,000. Plate coins were used between 1644 and 1776.
